Results from the MEESO project has been published in the scientific journal Deep Sea Research.

The article describes and discusses patterns and drivers of mesozooplankton composition, biomass and vertical distribution across 4 major basins in the North Atlantic. the results are based on data collected during a trans-Atlantic crossing during the summer of 2013.

Since the biomass of the larger mesopelagic organisms are sustained by the mesozooplankton, taxonomic, size and vertical distribution of the mesozooplankton has direct implications for the functioning of mesopelagic foodwebs.
