Status of activities and outcomes in the MEESO project's work package 1 from 1 September 2019 to 28 February 2021.
Summary
Work package 1, Data Management and Dissemination, aims to make the data collected under the project available and accessible, not only between but also beyond the project partners.
The ICES Data Centre in partnership with the MEESO project is working to facilitate data collection and provide metadata and data information.
The data management workshop held in 2020 was not only to fulfil the understanding of the metadata/data, but also to ensure that the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) principles are followed. Identification of appropriate data standards and establishment of a meta-data catalogue for data resources are fundamental tasks that were achieved during the report period towards fulfilment of the open data access. MEESO data collectors received training on the ICES metadata catalogue structure, guidelines, and practical exercises on how to insert new metadata records.
The e-learning document by Work Package 1 is useful as a data submission guideline, because it covers a wider range of topics such as data management, data model and data format description.
